Are gay men partially to blame for women's eating disorders/body image issues?First I am not saying all gay men because there are guys like richard simmons.
But since gay men Control the fashion industry they dictate what models look like in fashion magazines. And even though straight men love women who have shapely bodies, gay guys in the fashion industry decide to put these tall weird looking sticks as the "Model Beauty" making women starve themselves to look like these models.
I was just watching a show on MTV called made and there was this gay guy as the "coach" to make this girl become a model (stupid concept i know) and he was putting her down calling her fat and showing examples of the standard Beauty which was a stick.
If you watch porn you will realize men like women with women's bodies that has curves and body fat.
Yet the models they choose are these anorexic sticks.
Kinda makes me mad when I watch these "model" shows with my girlfriend and these gay guys rant on women for having a healthy women's body.
Of course there are straight women who are the models, but who hires them or decides who wears their clothes

no, i think they're a pretty insignificant factor in this regards.
I think women like tara banks are a lot more to blame.

no, there's far more straight women in the fashion industry than gay men. I'd be willing to bet there's even more straight men.
I'd say 80% of the male models, photographers, casting and talent agents were straight.
The girls simply don't eat because they are so worried about looking fat, then one gets a condition called 'dysmorphic body disorder' where you think you are fat unless you see yourself in photos. For many girls this can also lead to bulimia.
I'm sorry about this guy, but I personally would never tell a girl she was fat, as I don't think it is healthy for them either. It is really common however for heads of modeling agencies to tell their women to lose weight. Most of these are straight women and straight men. Mine was a straight woman, and she would tell them to lose weight, but also tell them to gain weight if they went to far.
I've often thought about how this started. Before the 80's maybe? Women were not expected to look like that. I think it has something to do with the modeling world and hollywood always trying for the next best thing, but now it's gone too far.
Sorry for the long answer.

No, people who are in the fashion industry are to be blamed, not Gay Men. Sexual-Orientation is irrelevant to actually who is in the fashion industry. Even if the majority of those who are in the Fashion Industry are Gay, the majority of Gay men are not, and could care less about what Women do with their own style. BTW, there are also Straight Women, who are in the fashion industry too. You should blame them first before blaming me, I work in the Computer Industry.

I think you're right! I'm gay, but many gay people criticize me for being muscular and a waist size 34.
Gay men tell me I should lose a few pounds, while girls prefer my built just the way it is.
