I have to do a pursuassive essay for school, and I can't find a single thing connecting dieting and eating disorders. Actually my topic is 'Dieting does not cause eating disorders'. so if someone could give me a website talking about that it would be greatly appriciated!!!

i'm a recovering anorexic...
and for me, dietting did cause anorexia
though i don't blame the diet
most people diet to do something good and healthy for themselves, and quit the diet when they get to a good, healthy weight
people with eating disorders never ditch the diet, play with new diets, experiment, binge, and guilt trip and return to the diet
it becomes not about having to resist a piece of cake to lose a few pounds,
it becomes having to count every calorie, down to a 2 calorie tea and a 10 calorie serving of iceberg lettuce, to demonstrate control.
its the feeling of speeding out of control when forced to eat something like presliced bread with no nutritional info and the crazy psychological need to 'better' it the next day, by living on a starvation diet.
its about not answering your bodies needs and wants,
instead following your predecided plan
compulsively listing safe and danger foods
throwing out or severely restricting food groups
feeling or seeing fat that isn't there
throwing out energy in exercise to dispose of energy you feel unneccesary
being confused about whether you want to feel and look well
or feel and look unhealthy to prove your thinness, control over your body, health/state.
eating disorders are psychological problems, people who get them from dietting are likely to have had the natural predisposition to get an eating disorder before they dietted
dietting just gave a route to direct pains, hurts, confusion, etcetera.

IMO.... Diets are not the cause.... They only determine when a person is clincally diagnosed with an eating disorder.
If you go back far enough, the cause of an eating disorder will lead to something more specific such as an emotional response, biological, or trauma.
Try different google search like:
+diets +"eating disorders" or +"causes" +"eating disorders"
And don't forget wikipedia, it's always a good start. There are also a lot of free psychology journals available online: http://www.doaj.org/
